On September 11, 1730, over 360 people of the Bishnoi tribe were killed in Khejarli (Rajasthan). This was because they had objected to felling of Khejri trees by the king of Jodhpur.
According to TOI, about 1,400 forest officials have been martyed while protecting the country¡¯s forest wealth and wildlife.
