Do you love books and islands? If yes, then you are going to love this. A luxury resort on Kunfunadhoo Island in the Maldives is hiring a new recruit for a year-long contract for selling books.?
The?Soneva Fushi?resort has reopened applications for its ¡°barefoot bookseller¡± position, which entails running a bookstore on a desert island for a year.
Alex McQueen, the Sales Manager of Ultimate Library, is seeking a passionate book lover, who is adventurous, outgoing, creative and doesn¡¯t mind spending all day barefoot.?
The bookselling takes place barefoot because no shoes are allowed to be worn on the island.? ??
The contract starts in October and will require the new barefoot bookseller to run a bookshop daily and also do the accounting and stock management.?
¡°The applicant will be there on their own, so they¡¯re pretty much running the whole thing themselves,¡± said McQueen of Ultimate Library, which runs the bookshop with the Soneva Fushi resort.?
¡°The ethos of the island is: no shoes, no news. They encourage guests to reconnect with the ground,¡± Mcqueen told The Guardian.?
Posting about the job on Instagram, The Barefoot Booksellers wrote: "In partnership with Soneva we are looking for our next Barefoot Bookseller for Soneva Fushi! The ultimate dream job for a desert island bibliophile, bookselling is one of the most beautiful places in the world."
"The lucky individual will fly out to the Maldives to join the Soneva Fushi team in early October for a twelve-month placement," they added.?
The successful candidate can expect free lodging and meals, and have their work permit and flight fees covered by the resort. Isn't that enticing??
