ITBP spokesperson said, "At least 150 labourers working at the Tapovan power project are feared dead or missing even as 3 bodies have been recovered."
The power project was swept away completely, added state Director General of Police Ashok Kumar while describing the situation as under control.
Several houses near the banks of Dhauliganga river in Reni village were washed away. There were fears of damage in human settlements downstream, including in heavily populated areas. Many villages were evacuated and people taken to safer areas.

"More than 100 labourers working at barrage and 50 plus working at a tunnel are feared dead or missing as per the site in-charge of Tapovan and the local administration. Three bodies have been recovered till now," ITBP spokesperson Vivek Kumar Pandey said in Delhi, report PTI.
Teams of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the National Disaster Response Force were rushed to flood-hit areas. An ITBP officer said two teams of the force, comprising about 200 personnel, had moved to the affected areas from Joshimath.
The Tapovan-Vishnugad dam has broken due to the glacier burst.
After the massive burst happened on Sunday morning all the districts are on high alert.
