A self-acclaimed spiritual guru allegedly raped a woman for seven years under the pretense of removing her obstacles. The victim reported it on Monday in Bengaluru, where she lives.
According to a Times of India report, the woman claimed she met the accused during a religious ceremony organized at her friend's home approximately seven years ago.
The victim claims that the guru advised her that she would need to indulge in ritual practices to overcome her obstacles in life. The woman claimed she went to the man's house to do a "special" puja since she believed in him.
She alleged that after accepting the drink the "Guruji" had offered her, she passed out.
After threats with pornographic films, the accused allegedly repeatedly raped the victim. After her daughter's engagement news leaked a few days ago, the victim's mother said her daughter's ordeal and constant sexual abuse for over seven years.?
The couple allegedly met the woman's fianc¨¦ and showed him the tapes. Additionally, the accused threatened to release the video footage if the man weds the victim.?
According to the victim's mother, the accused met their son and threatened to destroy the family if they got the woman married to anyone. As the FIR was being filed, the accused couple fled.
Following a complaint from the woman's mother, police have booked a self-described guru named Ananda Murthy and his wife, Latha. Police are actively searching for the accused.
Police said they would soon arrest the accused.
