Ever wonder how bookworms get their 'fix' whenever they have some time to spare? By reading more books, of course.?
And if you despair over not bringing your favourite books on a long train journey, soon you may be in for a surprise.
For the first time ever, Indian Railways is setting up a moving library inside two trains -- the Deccan Queen and Panchavati Express.
The 'Library On Wheels' was inaugurated in Deccan Queen which goes to Pune and Panchavati Express that is headed to Manmad respectively.
The service was inaugurated on October 15 by Maharashtra's Education Minister, Vinod Tawde, to celebrate 'Reading Day' and mark the birth anniversary of former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
?¡°This is an excellent way to help over 100 daily passengers to use their time meaningfully.¡±?Sanjay Ketkar, a daily commuter from Nashik to Mumbai, told TOI.
"It will be beneficial for people who love to read. We shall be introducing more books in English and Hindi as well," said Vinod Tawde, state Education minister to DNA.
A trolley filled with books and a person carrying a shoulder bag will move from coach to coach, encouraging people to read on these two train journeys. Interested passengers can pick a book against their seat number and PNR number.
Passengers will now be able to avail books, read and return them before getting off at their destination. And the best part is that this facility is absolutely free!?
