Tickets for Coldplay's show in Mumbai went on sale on September 22 through BookMyShow. Shortly after the sale went live, the hype around it reached a fever pitch. Several technical specialists claim that by using the 'Inspect Element' feature on the BookMyShow website, they were able to obtain Coldplay tickets before the general public. These reports correlate with disgruntled Coldplay fans accusing BookMyShow of mishandling ticket sales.
BookMyShow, the tour's single official booking portal, launched ticket sales for the India leg on Sunday. Coldplay fans, on the other hand, were outraged that after hours of waiting in a virtual queue, all tickets had sold out.
A few fans alleged that BookMyShow reserved passes for friends, high-profile attendees, staff members, and Instagram influencers while making it difficult for the general public to enter.?
Several techies claimed to have used a simple method to get Coldplay tickets without having to wait in line at this time.Archit Chauhan, Crib's CTO and co-founder, and a former Microsoft software developer, was one such techie.
Officially for sale to the public, the website may have included the 'Buy Ticket' URL in the coding, but it was not visible or clickable on the page. The Inspect Element option allows a person to see elements that are not displayed on the website and find a link to purchase tickets.?
A few more techies recounted using Inspect Element to secure tickets to Coldplay. They supplied screenshots demonstrating their success. It's unclear whether anyone was able to acquire tickets using this approach.?
