With the lockdown in India now extended, states continue to do their best to get rid of the deadly coronavirus. However, some states are much better than the others, and there are numbers to prove that.
According to a TOI report, Karnataka has a recovery rate of 24% with nearly a quarter (60) of the 247 Covid-19 patients in the state recovering from the virus and getting discharged from the hospital. The report says that 1,007 (10.9%) of the 9,190 Covid-19 patients across the country have recovered from the disease.
However, the recovery rate of the disease in 17 Indian states is more than the national average. Andaman and Nicobar Islands top the list with a 90.9% recovery rate where 10 out of 11 patients have been discharged. Kerala stands at 48% of its Covid-19 patients cured and discharged. Maharashtra has a recovery rate of 10.9%.
Even high-risk patients like the elderly are recovering from the disease. A 67-year-old woman who suffered from chronic kidney failure reportedly managed to get cured and recover from the deadly virus. She was on oxygen support for a week but finally beat the infection. Another case of 62-year-old man, who had an ECG reading and was placed on oxygen support for one week also recovered, claim reports.
S Suresh Kumar, Karnataka¡¯s Covid-19 spokesperson said, ¡°There has been an increase in the number of patients getting discharged. In Bengaluru alone, 27 (35%) of the 77 patients have been discharged. The number has gone up in the past 14 days."
