Actor Arun Govil, popular for playing the role of Lord Ram in the iconic TV series Ramayan has joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). According to reports, he joined the party at its office in Delhi.
Govil has become a member of the BJP just ahead of the assembly elections in four states and the union territory of Puducherry.?

Arun Govil was born to a waterworks engineer in the cantonment town of Meerut. He studied in several different schools across Saharanpur and Shahjanpur. Once he graduated from school, he enrolled for a BSc in Meerat and completed it from Mathura.?
Ramayan was his big break but he had already been successful on the big screen in his debut film Paheli which was released in 1977. It was produced by the house of Barjatyas of Rajshri Productions.
After Ramayan shut shop, Govil continued to work in the television industry and appeared in other mythological shows like Luv Kush. He also?played Harishchandra in TV series Vishwamitra and Buddha in a serial of the same name.
Ever since the news of him joining the BJP broke out, Twitter has been flooded with reactions.
