While the contest heats up in Tamil Nadu which goes to polls in April, the candidates are doing there all to grab people's attention and make a successful bid in the upcoming assembly elections.?
But one candidate seems to have found an unusual way to grab the headlines. Hari Nadar, an independent candidate in Tamil Nadu came to file his nomination on Tuesday wearing layers of heavy gold jewellery.
He filed his nomination papers to contest from Alangulam assembly constituency within Tirunelveli district.
The candidate made his way to the local Election Commission office to file his nomination, but it was the 5 kg gold ornaments he was wearing that stood out.?Hari Nadar is the Panangattu Padai Katchi coordinator, India Today reported.?

Filing his nomination papers, Nadar declared that he owns 11.2 kg gold.
The campaigning in the state is seeing candidates pull off unexpected stunts to give them an added edge over other candidates. Prior to Nadar, a candidate in Chennai filed his nomination papers wearing a PPE kit.?

The single-phase elections to 38 districts in the state will be held on April 6 and the results will be announced on May 2.??
These will be the first assembly polls in the southern state to be held after the demise of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader J Jayalalithaa, who passed away in December 2016, just months after winning the re-election earlier that year.??
