The tragic train crash in Odisha left families in anguish and desperation as they embarked on a frantic search for their missing loved ones. With the devastating accident involving multiple trains claiming numerous lives and causing widespread injuries, the victims' relatives faced an overwhelming challenge to locate and reunite with their family members.?
In a heartwarming tale of unwavering belief, a father refused to accept that his son had perished in a tragic train accident in Odisha. Determined to find his son, he traveled over 230 kilometers from Kolkata to Balasore.
Among the victims was 24-year-old Biswajit Malik, who was presumed to have died in the Balasore train accident.
Helaram Malik, Biswajit's father, pursued a relentless quest to locate his son. His pursuit eventually led him to a makeshift morgue in Odisha, where he arrived in an ambulance from Kolkata after a long journey.?
After being brought home from Odisha, Biswajit underwent surgery at SSKM Hospital's trauma care unit and is scheduled for additional surgeries. Despite his critical injuries, Malik's condition remains stable.
According to the report, Malik's father runs a small shop in Howrah. Upon learning about the Odisha train accident, Helaram contacted his son and discovered the extent of his injuries.?
However, their search did not go as planned. Helaram tirelessly searched for his son but initially failed to locate him.?
Nevertheless, he refused to give up. Helaram and Das persisted in their search and eventually arrived at Bahanaga High School, where they were confronted with a temporary morgue filled with numerous bodies.
It was Biswajit, severely injured but alive. They quickly took him to Balasore Hospital, where he received immediate medical assistance.
However, doctors advised Helaram to transfer his son to Cuttack Medical College Hospital. Despite this recommendation, Helaram discharged Biswajit and returned home, signing a bond.
Palash Pandit, the ambulance driver accompanying Das and Malik, reported that Biswajit remained largely unconscious throughout their journey back to Kolkata.
Speaking about Biswajit's survival, forensic medicine expert Somnath Das explained the concept of "suspended animation," where a person's vital signs are significantly reduced.?
It is possible that due to the circumstances of the search and rescue operations, the injured passengers' vital signs were not adequately checked, and Biswajit's case serves as an example of this occurrence.
