The legendary Tribute in Light returned on Wednesday night to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.The art project was visible within a 60-mile radius of Lower Manhattan from dusk on Wednesday, September 11 until daybreak the following day.?
The twin light beams, designed to mimic the original Twin Towers, have become a common emblem of New Yorkers' fortitude in the aftermath of the attacks.
"With more than 100 million Americans born since 9/11 or too young to remember that tragic day, it's imperative that we inspire a new generation by sharing the unity and resilience of our collective response. Tribute in Light's twin beams reach high into the night sky to remind everyone of who and what we lost -and found --23 years ago," said Beth Hillman, 9/11 Memorial & Museum President and CEO.? ?
The Tribute in Light was first unveiled six months after 9/11, in March 2002, as rescue, recovery, and relief efforts at Ground Zero proceeded.

As per reports, United Airlines Flight 175 took off from Boston for Los Angeles. The aircraft has 51 passengers, nine crew members, and five hijackers. Four minutes later, flight attendant Betty Ann Ong informs ground officials of the hijacking.?
At 8:20 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 departs from Dulles outside Washington, DC for Los Angeles, with five hijackers on board. At 8:42 a.m., United Flight 93 took off from Newark, New Jersey, bound for San Francisco, with four hijackers aboard.
Four minutes later, Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, killing all occupants. Seventeen minutes later, at 9:03 a.m., Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
