A special saree designed in Gujarat's Surat--the country's biggest textile industry--will be sent for the Ram Temple?consecration ceremony on January 22 in Ayodhya city, Uttar Pradesh.
The saree with images of Lord Ram and the Ayodhya temple has been designed for Lord Ram's wife Sita, also revered as Ma Janaki, and the first piece was presented to a temple here on Sunday, according to Lalit Sharma, a textile industry official.?
The project is dedicated to devotees unable to be physically present in Ayodhya during the consecration ceremony and those who wish to still be a part of the occasion,?Sharma?explained.
"There is joy all over the world because the idol of Lord Ram is going to be consecrated at the Ayodhya temple after many years. Ma Janaki and Lord Hanuman are the happiest," Sharma explained.
"To celebrate their joy, we have made a beautiful saree with images of Lord Ram and the Ayodhya temple printed on it. We presented it to Ma Janaki at a temple nearby. The saree will be delivered to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. If we receive a request, we will send it free of charge to all Lord Ram temples where Ma Janaki stays," Sharma said.
Rakesh Jain, a textile businessman who collaborated with Sharma to create the saree, stated that it is intended for Ma Janaki and will be delivered to Ayodhya temple.?
