Emily Vu, a 2021 student, was employed at Spotify after creating a themed r¨¦sum¨¦ designed exclusively for the company. Her r¨¦sum¨¦ used Spotify's grey and green colour scheme, as well as a similar font.?
Many people on Twitter praised the cool attempt. Vu was employed as a product manager intern at Spotify in April 2021. Vu was appointed as an Associate Product Manager at the organisation in September 2021. But amid the ongoing tech layoffs, she has also been fired from the company, and she shared the news on Twitter.?
She announced today on Twitter that she had been let go by Spotify. Spotify Technology announced on Monday that it expects to slash 6% of its workforce, or approximately 600 employees, adding to a wave of layoffs in the technology sector as businesses prepare for a future recession.
Dawn Ostroff, the company's chief content and advertising officer, will also leave as part of a larger reorganisation.¡°On a more serious note¡ i¡¯m heartbroken that my time at spotify was cut so short, but i¡¯m excited to start this new chapter of my career [sic]," Vu wrote in a follow-up tweet.?
Back in the day, a Spotify employee had noticed her themed r¨¦sum¨¦ and shared a job position with her, encouraging her to apply.
"Thank you to everyone who has followed my journey - i couldn¡¯t have done it without y¡¯all (seriously). i love the internet. [sic]," Vu had written on Twitter. Her time with Spotify, however, ended in a tragedy that she might have never expected.?
We hope something better comes up for Vu and other laid-off employees around the world soon! Many people came forward with their condolences after Vu's tweet.?
A lady encouraged Vu and wrote, "spotify or no spotify, you¡¯re an icon and a legend for this, no matter where you work. you single-handedly changed the young music professional r¨¦sum¨¦ game forever. never ever ever forget that! can¡¯t wait to see what you do next."
A man added, "Sorry to hear. Your tweet (and design) spawned ten thousand copycats. You should be proud of what you accomplished. It speaks to your ability."
Emily Vu (@emvutweets), was a senior at the University of California, Irvine, at the time. She took to Twitter to describe how she designed her CV specifically for her dream job, and it was quite brilliant and unique. The tweet spread like wildfire on the internet.?
One of the professions she's interested in is a Product Manager (PM) position at music streaming site Spotify, so she designed her CV to seem like the streaming platform.Aside from the content of the CV, what stands out about Emily's is that it seems like a desktop version of Spotify, from the typefaces to the colour scheme. She also utilised the app's "like" button as bullet points to demonstrate how attentively she constructed her CV. She was hired in no time after the tweet went viral.?
