Jamia campus turned into a battlefield as the police entered the campus on Sunday. Delhi Police went on to claim that they showed ¡®maximum restraint despite provocations¡¯ during Sunday¡¯s protest, even as the opposition demanded a judicial inquiry into the police action at Jamia Millia.
Several students were reportedly injured - some more seriously than others - during the course of the protests and were taken to hospitals to be treated. Alleged police brutality sparked anger among people, many of whom then came out in support of students, opening up their hearts and homes to those injured and looking for shelter.
