Even if you have been living under a rock, you cannot possibly be unaware of the protest that took place in Jamia Millia Islamia University against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, and NRC that began in Assam and West Bengal. The protests that began on Sunday night turned violent.
Jamia campus turned into a battlefield as the police entered the campus. Delhi Police went on to claim that they showed ¡®maximum restraint despite provocations¡¯ during Sunday¡¯s protest, even as the opposition demanded a judicial inquiry into the police action at Jamia Millia.

Several students were injured - some more seriously than others - during the course of the protest and were taken to hospitals to be treated. Alleged police brutality sparked anger among people, many of whom then came out in support of students, opening up their hearts and homes to those injured and looking for shelter.
Students who do not have a home in the national capital and have no place to stay the night must be fearing for their life. In this situation, for the protestors, people on Twitter who have opened up their hearts and homes are surely no less than god.

Some Sikh organisations helped the students by distributing food and water. People living in the Jamia area also distributed bananas, biscuits, water and juice to the protesters. Meanwhile, doctors at the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) also came out and helped those who were injured.
While the protectors were not able to protect them, people from across the national capital stood with them.

For students having to vacate their hostels in India due to the recent violence, please try approaching a local Gurudwara. Here's a list of Gurudwaras in major Indian cities. This is a humanitarian tweet, not a political one. Pls keep it that way. https://t.co/9lI4WmsvlV

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 seeks to give Indian nationality to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan facing religious persecution there.
According to the proposed legislation, members of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities, who have come from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, till December 31, 2014, and facing religious persecution there will not be treated as illegal immigrants but given Indian citizenship.
The students of Jamia are not the only ones protesting against the CAB and NRC, colleges across the nation - Guwahati University, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, Aligarh University among others, were also the ones to protest.
On Sunday evening, the police entered the Jamia campus and pulled out the students from the library and hostels and allegedly abused them with lathi charge and sadly the students also included women. Fifty students who were detained by the police were released on Monday, but the tensions continued on the campus.
Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, reassured the protesting students across several states in India that the CAB is not targeting at Indian Muslims, protests and outrage only grew louder.
People who have put out their status on Twitter are also showing their support and solidarity with the students. Though, it is not necessary that people go out and support the protestors by shouting slogans with them but there are other ways in which they are supporting them. While the protestors are out there, other people are making sure that they do not go hungry! And when their own government and so-called protectors are not doing anything to protect them, these people make sure that they feel safe in their own country.
