Bombay's famous "vada pav" is probably fairly well-known to you if you are a local or have spent some time there. This delicacy is perfect for any time of day, whether you're having breakfast, lunch, or high tea.?
The vada pav is widely regarded as one of the tastiest and most popular street snacks in all of India, particularly in the city of Mumbai. Between two buttered pav buns, a deep-fried aloo bonda or vada is topped with a unique masala and served with green chutney and green chilies.?
Taste Atlas, a travel guide for traditional food, has made a list of the fifty "best sandwiches in the world" based on a survey of professional chefs, restaurant reviewers, and academics.
Tombik from Turkey comes in first, followed by Butifarra from Peru and Sandwich De Lomo from Argentina.?
?The website describes Bombay's iconic and most-loved Vada Pav: "This iconic street food is said to have originated from a street vendor named Ashok Vaidya, who worked near the Dadar train station in the 1960s and 1970s. He thought of a way to satiate the hungry workers and concluded that the ideal dish should be portable, affordable, and easy to prepare. Ashok made vada pav, and its popularity skyrocketed."?
The Peruvian Jibarito and the American Avocado Toast both made the cut.?
