There is no denying that India is still an agricultural dominated country where around 65% of India lives in rural areas. This also means that a large swath of the land is not fully developed and has no robust infrastructure.?
Nothing to take pride in given that it's been 75 years since we gained independence and a large section of the society is still struggling for the basic necessities. However, we can take solace in the fact that we as a country are moving ahead in the direction of growth and development. And nothing promisingly reflects this than the youth of the country taking responsibility to bring development in their region themselves.?
The youth of Aman village in Jharkhand took charge in their hand and committed themselves to construct a road in their village after their request to PM Narendra Modi, and Bollywood actor Sonu Sood failed to bring the desired result in their village.
According to a news report in News18, Sanjay Mahato from Aman village in Bokaro district requested many politicians including Chief Minister Hemant Soren to allow construction of a road in his village but to no avail. He then with his fellow villagers decided to construct a 5 km road that would connect two regions lessening their treacherous tread to the city centre in the militant-infested area.
The village located in the mountainous region not only lies in difficult terrain but is also a militant dominated area where there is little development. The road and drinking water facilities are very poor and people have to tread 25 km to reach the secretariat and panchayat buildings as well as to the market in the nearby areas.
This newly constructed road would lessen the travel time for them.?
The good part is that this is not an isolated case. There have been reports from across the country where locals took charge of building roads, bridges etc in their areas after authorities failed to do so.?
This is not to say that political leaders and authorised responsible for carrying out these activities shouldnĄ¯t be held accountable but waiting eternally for them to do the task is also not advisable.?
Youths from Jharkhand have refused to wait forever and decided to make way for themselves.
