Kendall just lays it all out,?"Don't argue for too long."
"I wish when I was an entry-level associate that somebody had told me the fine line between sharing your opinion and arguing for too long a period.," she explained.
The whole point is not about holding back and not sharing your opinion, it's knowing when to stop. "And really what should happen is you should always be sharing your opinion, you should always be asking questions as the leadership wants you to do whether they say it or not."?
"But when it starts getting to the territory where you realise people aren't agreeing with you or they're not going to go the direction with the decision that you wanted them to you gotta pull back because unfortunately in corporate America if your opinion is not what leadership is planning to do, this can get you labelled as somebody who's not a team player and doesn't work effectively with management," Kendall added saying that you always want to be seen as a team player and not someone who can create problems.
Interestingly, when we think management is withholding information, more often than not they have wayyyy more information than we do, and getting into that with too many can seem pointless. "You should also keep in mind that a lot of the time leadership has context you have no idea about. They know what the investors want, what the board of directors wants, they know what the C Suite is looking for so they might be making the decision with a little more information than you have. But ultimately share your opinion, share your feelings and then shut up."
In yet another video shared earlier, Kendall has another revelation to make. In the following clip, she shares she was shocked to learn that at the end of the day, it's not how well you do your job that matters, but how well you play the game. Take a look:
