Disappointed by her husband's discretion over his salary details, a wife found a perfect way to get all the answers. According to the Central Information Commission (CIC), a wife can use the Right to Information Act to obtain information about her husband's income. ?
The appellate body recently ordered the Income Tax Department to provide a woman with generic information about her husband's net income. The Financial Express acquired details about the case, which seems connected to a marital conflict.
Gupta also inquired about her husband's taxable income.
However, the Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) at the Income Tax Department office in Bareilly initially declined to provide her with the details, citing her husband's refusal to share the mentioned details.
Gupta, unfazed, filed a second appeal with the Central Information Commission (CIC).
After considering these factors, the CIC ruled in favor of the wife and directed the CPIO to "inform the appellant about the generic details of the net taxable income/gross income of her husband held and available with the Public Authority."
