'Beautiful, fair and qualified enough to make round rotis' is a common demand in matrimonial ads while looking for brides in India. However, this one takes the cake - an unemployed man posted an advertisement in a newspaper, specifically asking for an 'extremely fair girl who should be an expert in child raising'.
The advertisement has gone viral on the Internet.
The man, Dr Abhinao Kumar is an unemployed dentist whose demands have not gone down well with the people, and they are calling him out on his 'sexist, extremist, casteist' demands.?
His other 'requirements' were that the girl should be an Indian Hindu Brahmin girl from Jharkhand or Bihar and her patriotism should have a 'keen desire to increase India's military and sports capabilities'. Along with that, the ad also says, "SAMPURNA KUNDLI MILAN AND 36 GUNAS MATCHING MUST'. Oh, and the girl should also be rich.
The matrimonial industry in India dishes out billions of dollars every year and more than half of the country still depends on these ads to find potential partners for their sons and daughters.?
Twitter wasn't very pleased with the man's 'demands' and had no qualms about expressing their disapproval on the same.
Looking for partners sounds more like your KRAs for a job instead of a life partner.
It is not wrong to have expectations from your partner - you might want someone who does not smoke or someone who is patriotic, and that's fine. But what this ad conveys is that this guy basically wants a woman who will clean his house, cook for him, raise his children, have a lot of money, and then go out and earn some more. Not to mention she has to have the 'perfect' physical attributes. All this, while the guy is himself unemployed - although, this would not be justified even if he was employed.?
