The controversy around India's Got Latent has taken the internet by storm, as popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, and content creator and influencer Apoorva Makhija's offensive remarks on the latest episode of the show landed them in a social media debate. Amid an ongoing row, popular comedian Vir Das has now addressed the controversy on his Instagram story.?
Reacting to the current media coverage of the controversy, Vir Das took to his Instagram story and wrote, "The audience is always welcome to debate what good comedy is."?
A good artist will take their feedback with their head down, mouth shut, and may evolve better, he added. He further went on to say that the consequences of the comedy on the audience are quite instant, and that's the natural process.?
He continued to point out that, on the other hand, we are also watching a group of irrelevant mainstream media house anchors who are near their extinction coming together to take down a new media that gets millions more views.?
Longer interviews are far more impactful than their bloated studios and fat salary of 1 per cent of the cost, he added. Whether you like the new media or not, is irrelevant.
Das concluded by saying, "That's ALSO what's happening here. And while we debate what good comedy is, please debate what good journalism is and the news that they SHOULD be doing, the questions they SHOULD be asking, and who they should be asking them to."
As soon as the controversial clips from the latest members-only episode of India's Got Talent started making rounds on the internet, netizens started calling out to ban the show and urged for strict action against them.?
Following this, multiple complaints were filed against the show and its panellists, and as per ANI's report, the Mumbai Police also reached Allahabadia's residence on Tuesday.?
