Donald Trump has appointed Sriram Krishnan, an Indian-American entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and author, as Senior White House Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence. In a statement announcing several other appointments, the president-elect wrote, ¡°Sriram Krishnan will serve as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy."
Trump added that Krishnan would work closely with David Sacks to maintain America¡¯s leadership in AI, as well as help shape AI policy across the government, collaborating with the President¡¯s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Sriram Krishnan grew up in Tamil Nadu and studied at SRM Valliammai Engineering College in Kattankulathur. He started his career at Microsoft, where he helped develop Windows Azure, particularly its APIs and services. He also authored a book,?Programming Windows Azure, for O¡¯Reilly.
In 2013, Krishnan joined Facebook, where he played a key role in growing the company¡¯s mobile ad business. He later worked at Snap and then at Twitter (now X) until 2019, where he worked with Elon Musk on restructuring the platform. In 2021, he became a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and helped open their first international office in London in 2023.
Krishnan is also an investor and advisor at the Indian fintech company Cred. He co-hosts The Aarthi and Sriram Show podcast with his wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy.
After Trump¡¯s announcement, Krishnan took to his X handle and expressed his gratitude, saying, ¡°I¡¯m honoured to be able to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI working closely with @DavidSacks.¡± Sacks also shared the news, calling the team an example of the incredible talent President Trump is bringing to his administration.
