The new President-elect spoke at Florida¡¯s Palm Beach County Convention Center on Tuesday midnight amid a sea of admirers gathered to hear his post-win vision. Just moments into his victory speech, Donald dropped words of appreciation for his running mate JD Vance and his Indian-American wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance.
He was heard saying, ¡°I want to be the first to congratulate - now I can say Vice President-elect JD Vance. And his remarkable and beautiful wife, Usha Vance.¡±
Born on January 6, 1986, to Indian immigrant parents, Usha Chilukuri Vance¡¯s ancestral roots lie in Andhra Pradesh. She was raised in a suburb of California¡¯s San Diego and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in History from Yale University and a Master of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge as a Gates Scholar.?
The soon-to-be Second Lady of the United States has also been instrumental on the editorial desk of the Yale Journal of Law & Technology as Managing Editor and The Yale Law Journal as their Executive Development Editor. She currently works as a corporate litigator at a San Francisco firm and has previously clerked for US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Usha met JD Vance at Yale Law School and married him following Hindu rituals in 2014. The couple together have three children.
Many don¡¯t know but Usha is the granddaughter of Rama Sastry and grandniece of Subramanya Sastry. While both these renowned academicians worked majorly as university professors, Mr Subramanya was an RSS worker and even spent two years in jail during the Emergency (1975-1977). Hailing from a Telugu family, Usha¡¯s family migrated to the US in the early 1980s.
