A California man has filed a lawsuit against over 50 women who called him a "bad date" on a dating-related Facebook page.?
According to the New York Post, the man, Stewart Lucas Murrey, has filed a lawsuit seeking $2.6 million from the women who allegedly left unfavorable evaluations about him.?
The Facebook group "Are We Dating The Same Guy?" allows women to give advise and warnings about possibly harmful or untrustworthy males they've met while dating. This group features unique location-based pages across the United States that cater to various cities.
The women said Stewart was using the legal process to frighten them, and they requested the courts to punish him."My heart started pounding, as I thought: this man knows where I live," a woman told the Times of London. She claimed that the first time she met the man in person was when he arrived to her house to drop off the lawsuit.
However, Stewart said that the women he accused uploaded false information about him on the app, ruining his dating life and damaging his reputation, according to the New York Post.
On Monday, a judge in Los Angeles civil court ruled that one of the women, Vanessa Valdez, done nothing illegal by posting her comments about Stewart on the Facebook page.?
One of the defendants, Olivia Berger, said that the bulk of the women Stewart is suing had never met him in person. Some people liked or reacted to posts about Stewart without knowing him.?
The women who were targeted by Stewart are now hoping that the court's judgment will result in a rule that prohibits him from exploiting the judicial system against them again.?
This is not the first time the "Are We Dating The Same Guy?" Facebook group has faced legal action. A man from Chicago also sued members of the group in his area, claiming slander.?
