For one man, a trip to buy some apples turned into his biggest nightmare. Babloo Yadav was shocked and betrayed after he came to Delhi from?West Bengal in hopes of buying some apples and ended up kidnapped at the hands of his own friend.
According to?NDTV,?three people were arrested on Monday for allegedly abducting the 33-year-old businessman and extorting Rs 3 lakh from him as ransom. As per the police, the incident took place on Wednesday when Yadav arrived in?Delhi?from Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri.
Yadav, who had come to buy apples from the wholesale market at Azadpur Mandi, was reportedly picked up from the airport by a taxi arranged by his friend Ajay. The taxi dropped him off at Sector 21 in Dwarka, according to the police.?
Once Yadav arrived in Dwarka, Ajay escorted him to a secluded apartment where one of his associates was already waiting. The following day, four more accomplices joined them at the flat and, using force, transported him to an isolated dairy facility in Bahadurgarh by car, police informed.
The suspects threatened him with serious repercussions and insisted on a ransom for his release. They compelled Yadav to contact his family members and transfer a total of Rs 2.7 lakh using five different UPI IDs.
Once they received the ransom, the perpetrators left him near Bahadurgarh City Metro Station and warned him not to report the incident to the police, according to the authorities. However, Yadav did not hesitate and lodged a complaint against the five suspects, including Ajay, at the Delhi Airport police station on Friday, stated DCP (IGI Airport) G. Ram Gopal Naik.
In response to the victim's complaint, an FIR was filed, invoking sections 364A, which concerns the charges for kidnapping for ransom, and 120B, which corresponds with criminal conspiracy in the Indian Penal Code, according to the DCP.
The police initiated an inquiry and apprehended three suspects¡ªPraveen Kumar (27), Vikas (26), and Harphool Singh (33)¡ªon Monday, he further informed.
