Several countries in the world have been slammed with severe weather warnings, primarily affecting travel and ways of getting to work. While some people work from the luxury of their own homes, others have a minor inconvenience.?
Now, a boss in Portland, Oregon, has gone viral on social media after one of his employees recorded a video demonstrating the extreme lengths her boss went to guarantee his employees did not call in sick during a snowstorm.
Amirraa Ruffin stated on TikTok that her boss picked everyone up and drove them to work so his employees wouldn't have to call out after a snowstorm.
"And I was hoping he would just let the store be closed for the day," Ruffin captioned the video, which has received over 4 million views on the video-sharing app.?
In the video, she was seen standing with colleagues in their icy workplace parking lot, with on-screen text reading, "When everyone tried to call out, but the boss drives and picks each of you up."
In the comments section, she also claimed that her supervisor had brought his employees home from work that day. "I'm not even upset. "I simply respect the hustle," she wrote.
Ruffin shared the footage on Sunday. Commenters were eager to respond to the video. "Mine did this once, and we all got into an accident because of the ice," said one user. "I would respond with 'it's not the lack of transportation; I'm not putting my life on the line by travelling in these conditions for this wage'." said another user.
In the same timeframe, The Independent reported that Oregon experienced severe temperatures,?snow, and freezing rain across nearly every region last week. Medical examiners were investigating a hypothermia-related death as a city accustomed to mild winter rains faced freezing rain and heavy snow. Hundreds sought refuge at warming centres overnight.??
