Lotteries are often considered a "game of chance."?Winning a lottery is considered to be a matter of luck because the outcome is not based on any skill or strategy, but rather on random chance.?
While people can use certain strategies to increase their chances of winning, ultimately the final outcome is determined by chance. But imagine not winning any money even if you had the winning numbers. Here's what happened with a UK Couple.?
A couple was shocked to learn that they were unable to receive the lottery money after believing they had won the ?182 million (Rs 1,765 crore) EuroMillions jackpot.?
Before realising she had neglected to purchase her weekly ticket, a 19-year-old student mistakenly believed she had won a sizable ?182 Euromillions jackpot.? ?
The winning numbers were played by Rachel Kennedy and her boyfriend, Liam McCrohan, 21, both of Hertfordshire in the UK, and they were notified that they had won the jackpot.
When all of her numbers on Friday's draw came in, Rachel Kennedy of Hertfordshire said she was "going crazy" with excitement. The Brighton University student claims to use the same numbers each week and was overjoyed with the victory.
"I went on the app and it said ¡®Winning Match¡¯ and I thought ¡®Oh my God, I¡¯ve won¡¯. So I called my boyfriend Liam and my mum into the room and they couldn't believe it either," Rachel told The Sun in 2021.
All of their hopes, however, were dashed when they learned that they were unable to obtain the funds because Rachel's ticket payment was declined because she lacked sufficient funds in her account.
On Twitter, her boyfriend Liam expressed their disappointment at not winning the multimillion-pound prize.
Rachel called the number thinking they had won ?182 million, but they informed her that although they had the correct numbers, they lacked the funds to pay for the ticket. "When I initially believed I had won, I was ecstatic, but Liam was actually more disappointed than I was," Rachel added.?
When the couple heard the man on the phone say that they hadn't actually purchased the ticket, Liam was utterly devastated. "To be fair, I think I was getting a little carried away because I was already visualising our ideal home and car," added Liam.?
Due to the fact that in the app it appears in orange and says "winning match" on the app, it actually gave the impression that the couple had won. "When you looked at it and saw that it was her usual numbers, it just seemed like she had won, so I became a little too excited," said Liam.?
Rachel added, "I¡¯ve never won anything before, we¡¯ve just got the worst luck when it comes to stuff like this."
