The Gurgaon police have launched a probe after a video went viral showing a moving car bursting firecrackers from a box kept on top of its boot near Cyberhub.?
Since being shared on Instagram, the video has amassed more than 5.4 million views and over 50,000 likes.
In the now-viral video, a black sedan, which was moving through roads in the Cyberhub area, can be seen leaving a trail of bursting crackers in the air.?The video appears to have been shot by a motorist who was following the car in a separate vehicle.
The police said that the social media cell of Gurgaon police took cognizance of the video and forwarded it to the DLF Phase-III police station to pursue legal action against the suspects.
It was later said that the cops had identified the car and its owner. However, they got to know from him that it had been sold to another person.
"The owner has been summoned to the police station for further inquiry. We will ensure legal action against the culprits after a proper investigation,"?DLF Phase-III SHO Sandeep Kumar was quoted as saying.?
The SHO further said the video was recorded by another person who was following the car in a separate vehicle and later uploaded the video.?
The police have termed it a safety hazard, with ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan saying that no one is allowed to breach?traffic rules. He said if someone has committed a breach, police will investigate and get to the bottom of it.
The SHO said that they would also try to find out if the video was shot on Diwali night. The probe will also reveal if those were green crackers, he said.?
During Diwali, only the sale of green crackers was allowed in Gurgaon. Deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav had cited the orders of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) when announcing the development.
A complete ban was imposed on manufacturing, selling, and using all other types of firecrackers.
