Our jobs come with rules. It's just a part of life, and it's generally pointless to make a fuss if you disagree. But for some, it's enough to give up on that particular business entirely. We're discussing the unusual world of cruise ships and the various people that work on them.
It's a one-of-a-kind industry, requiring weeks of travel to picturesque sites throughout the world while ensuring that the paying customer receives the vacation of a lifetime that they desire.?
Most persons who sign contracts to work on the vessels can spend anywhere from two to nine months on board. That's a long time living in small huts.?
However, many people quit their contracts before they expire.Lucy Southerton, a cruise ship worker, has been on the ships for nearly a decade. When she's not working, she spends her time on Instagram and YouTube, posting cruise-related stuff.?
Lucy from Birmingham often posts updates about her cruise ship experiences, including one about why cruise ship employees should avoid sleeping with each other for the first few weeks, if not months, on board. In her most recent YouTube video, Lucy discussed the arduous reason people leave the cruise business.?
And while it's certainly not for everyone, she also spoke about one particular regulation that crew must respect when they're working their cruise contracts."Starting your cruise ship profession is likely to be exciting. Lucy adds, "You will meet wonderful people and visit beautiful places, but it is not for the faint of heart."
But is there one rule that consistently surprises people? Being restricted from certain portions of the ship.
Lucy says: "As a crew member, depending on your position, you may not be permitted to enter certain regions of the ship at specific times or at all. And people are like, "This is crazy," and depending on the cruise line, you may not be able to enter passenger areas unless you are working."?
"If you have time off, you can only be in crew areas, which might feel extremely restricting. Rules can make people feel quite claustrophobic."?
