A 35-year-old man from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, ended up in the hospital when he discovered a deceased rat in what was supposed to be a vegetarian lunch at Barbeque Nation in Mumbai.
Rajeev Shukla, the victim, rushed to social media to share images of the dead rat floating in his supper, narrating the terrifying incident that transpired on and after January 8th, 2024.?
The incident occurred during Shukla's vacation to Mumbai, when he ordered a Classic Veg Meal Box Regular from Barbeque Nation in Worli. He had no idea his order would contain uninvited 'additional protein' in the form of?a dead rat.
When the food arrived, Shukla began eating it, only to discover a dead rat and cockroaches?in the Dal Makhani.
He then developed gastrointestinal distress and sought immediate medical assistance at the civic-run Byl Nair Hospital. Shukla expressed his disappointment, saying, "I wanted to experience Mumbai, and I did, going all the way from Prayagraj, but this could be my final trip. I am a Brahmin and a strict vegetarian, but when my Barbeque Nation order arrived, it was the shock of my life."
The dinner included a dead rat and bugs. As published by the Free Press Journal, "I was hospitalised at Nair Hospital after contracting food sickness."?
Shukla instantly alerted Barbeque Nation via email, describing the contamination in his dish. He wrote, "I received food, including a rat and insects, and I unfortunately ate the majority of it. This is simply not acceptable because I am a vegetarian; it is also uncomfortable, and I want to vomit. I have already vomited, and it is constantly running through my head, making me nauseated. The food industry is supposed to keep us alive, not kill us."?
Although Shukla received a response from the restaurant, no one came to the hospital, leaving him to shoulder the costs. The apparent nonchalant response from 'Manoj CRS Team, Barbeque Nation,' stated, "Dear Guest, We sincerely regret any inconvenience you may have suffered and appreciate you taking the time to notify us. I want to tell you that your worries are of the utmost significance to us.?
Six days later, enraged, frustrated, and irritated, Shukla took matters into his own hands and filed a FIR against Barbeque Nation's owner, manager, and chef at the Nagpada Police Station.?
True to his commitment to transparency, he even posted images of the official papers on social media. As of now, there has been no significant update on the case.?
