After his answer to an employee requesting "late-night party leave" went viral, a CEO from Delhi won hearts on social media and spurred a discussion about leave policy. Here's what went on.
Unstop's creator and CEO, Ankit Aggarwal published a screenshot of his conversation with an employee without revealing his identity."This arrived in my WhatsApp this morning."
Ankit Aggarwal explained in his post: "An employee requests a leave of absence because the party and its afterparty are still going on. This transparency is crucial inside a team so that you can trust your colleagues and they know you will support them."
"When colleagues feel comfortable being open and honest with each other, it builds a foundation of trust that can lead to better communication, collaboration, and overall success."
"This is exactly what I needed to read today." "In my previous job experience, there were situations where my colleagues and I were honest and offered our manager the genuine reasons why we needed leave - it might be a weekend excursion, to attend weddings, or just "we're mentally fatigued, we need a day off to do nothing," commented LinkedIn user Samina Hathiyari.
"We weren't allowed to take a day off until someone in our family was either hospitalized or died!" "I must remark that we all lost a lot of relatives in order to receive these leaves."? ??
In response to some of the criticism, Aggarwal explained that the purpose of publishing the chat was to illustrate how his company's work culture is and that honesty is appreciated.?
"The idea is not to show my response but how open conversation is at Unstop so that you don't have to lie to take a leave," he told me. Check the viral post here.?
