Fashion brands often come up with unique designs that may or may not be very practical off the runway. While some of these designs may become popular and command a following, others however are not liked much. Joining the latter list is luxury brand?Diesel who released a rather unique skirt recently leaving everyone on the internet divided.?
Recently, the high-end luxury brand Diesel came out with a skirt that has started a discussion online. Italian retailer Diesel created a dress, that looked like a belt, and it has caused controversy for a number of reasons. The skirt retails for $1,000 and it is not the most comfortable garment to wear out or sit in.
This mini?skirt?is a part of the brand's fall collection of 2022. The belt skirt is a classic example of the Y2K fashion. The creative director of the brand, Glenn Martens has continued to embrace the year 2000 by incorporating low-waisted silhouettes into their collection.?
The design wasn't well-received by the public. Many people have reacted to it by taking to social media. A user on Twitter compared it to hip brace equipment. They wrote, "The diesel skirt literally looks like the hip brace i have to wear to prevent dislocations."
A freelance artist commented on the construction of the skirt. She wrote, "Ppl are really defending Diesel selling a $1,000 ¡°skirt¡± that cannot be worn out of the house, is made of rubber, & fastens w Velcro. And yet as a freelance artist I¡¯m constantly told my work is too expensive. Funny stuff."
A page on Twitter wrote, "finding out that the diesel skirt uses velcro to latch on has to be one of the top 3 worst things ive heard this week."
