A specially-abled Airbnb host has claimed that she is being sued by her guests since they were traumatised by her disability.?
This woman identified only as 1820Things or the username ¡°thisworldcanbeAccessible¡± on Tiktok shared a petition on Change.Org that stated that she wants to show the judge in court that "Disabled people are not scary and should not have to pay compensation if someone dislikes their disability."
She stated on TikTok how?the scenario started when the company arrived at her property in Ireland and ¡°they became very hostile and aggressive, demanding to know who the disabled person in the house¡± was after noticing her doorbell.
She claimed that the company told her ¡°they do not press anything disability-related¡±. But that she attributed some of their aggression to a potential ¡°language barrier¡±.
The woman, who has Huntington's Disease, which is genetic, claims that the guests are filing the suit because they were not informed beforehand that she was disabled.
¡°They¡¯re arguing that absolutely everything in my house is a disability aid, including glass cups, mugs¡ everything. Anything purchased by a disabled person is a disability aid, according to their self-identified logic,¡± she continues.?She rents rooms in her house on Airbnb to help fund experimental treatments.
According to reports, the?specially-abled?host claimed that she was pressured to spend the evening "locked" in her kitchen, as Airbnb allegedly instructed her. She may be putting herself at risk of additional legal responsibility if she enters a shared-living house and encounters the company.
Basically, Airbnb supported the guests in this manner since issues of safety involving a disabled host or visitor don¡¯t get handed off to their security group, but to buyer companies, which don¡¯t work a single day.
According to a Twitter thread, the guests are being funded by a lobbying group that wants to challenge the Equality Act, which is very important anti-discrimination legislation in the EU and UK.
The host is also?sending?100 postcards to Airbnb¡¯s headquarters representing disabled people from around the globe and their commitment to inclusivity.
