What was meant to be leisure turned into a disaster for a car mechanic from Delhi when he rammed a Mercedes into an auto rickshaw and injured three pedestrians in the accident in south-east Delhi. According to an NDTV report, the man, found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, has been arrested.
The man has been identified as Alam, a resident of New Seelampur, the police said.

Upon interrogation, the mechanic confessed that the car belonged to one of his clients who had left it at his workshop for repair work. He revealed that he had alcohol in the car and took two of his woman friends for a ride.?
Deputy commissioner of police (southeast) RP Meena said, "When he reached near Sarai Kale Khan red light, the car went out of control and hit the auto-rickshaw. It jumped the divider and hit three pedestrians".

Alam tried to restart the car but in vain and by that time, a crowd of people had gathered around the accident spot which eventually led to a traffic jam, added Mr Meena.?
The police authorities also found beer bottles and food items inside the car.?

The three pedestrians who were injured in the accident have been identified as Brijesh, Mahender and Suresh. They were rushed to AIIMS Trauma Center. The auto-rickshaw driver, Sachin, got away without any injuries, the police said.?
