While most restaurants across the globe continue to struggle amid the the COVID-19 pandemic, a Dutch restaurant came up with a novel business idea and created 'The Golden Boy' ¡ª the 'world's most expensive burger'.??
Robbert Jan de Veen of 'de Daltons' diner has developed the world's 'most expensive' burger that costs?a whopping $5,964 (Rs 4.42 lakh). The burger was sold to Netherlands-based conglomerate Remia International on June 28 with its proceeds being donated to a non-profit organization that assists food banks in The Netherlands, Esquire Middle East reported.?
As per Euro News, the owner of the restaurant, Veen, said it was his "childhood dream to create a world record."??
What makes 'The Golden Boy' so expensive?
According to the official website of the diner, the bun of the burger contains a gold leaf, while it includes white truffle, king crab, beluga caviar, duck egg mayonnaise, and Dom P¨¦rignon champagne.
Flicking through the archives of the Guinness World Records, Veen discovered that the current record was set in 2011 by an American restaurant in Oregon.
¡°That burger had a price tag of $4981 (Rs 3.70 lakh) that¡¯s definitely not for one person¡so I thought I can do better than that¡ it was really a challenge to create such an expensive dish for a single person,¡± said Veen.
His attempt at breaking the world record is being reviewed by the Official World Record Association.
¡°Breaking a world record has been a childhood dream of mine and it feels amazing. It¡¯s been a difficult year with COVID, but good times are ahead for the entire hospitality industry and this is a great start.¡±
