Mumbai has been battered by heavy rainfall yet again. The monsoons have thrown normal life out of gear leaving most places waterlogged.
The waterlogging situation at Mumbai Parel local train station seem to be slightly out of hand considering fish were spotted swimming in the water that collected over the tracks.
According to a Mid-Day report, the Mumbai local trains had to be suspended at various locations on both Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) due to waterlogging and other flooding-related issues.
"It took time for the water to recede due to the overflowing culverts. The heavy tide coupled with incessant rain led to temporary disruptions. No suburban services were stranded anywhere and trains were restored as soon as possible," CR chief public relations officer (PRO) Shivaji Suta told Mid-Day.
WR motorman V C Sharma spotted tree branches on the tracks and stopped the train on time, and cleared the debris with the help of railway guard Milan Shah on Tuesday morning
With the city locked down due to the?COVID-19?outbreak and only a few trains running, both CR and WR had conducted uninterrupted preparations, before massive rains caused disruptions.?

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the reason for heavy rainfall in Mumbai and nearby areas is the strengthening of the Southwest monsoon.?According to IMD bulletin, a cyclonic circulation lies over south Gujarat and the neighbourhood at middle and upper troposphere levels.
Due to high tide and heavy rains resulting in water logging at Dadar & Prabhadevi, special suburban services are being run between Virar-Andheri-Bandra & services suspended between Bandra-Churchgate: Western Railway.?
All offices in Mumbai and the suburbs are closed after heavy rain pounded the city since Monday night. "Due to heavy rainfall in Mumbai and the suburban region and prediction of more rainfall by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the holiday has been declared for all state government offices in Mumbai and suburbs today," the state relief and rehabilitation department said in official communication.
There is extensive waterlogging in the city and floodwaters have entered houses in Kandivali and other low-lying areas today. 26 places have reported flooding. Roads in areas such as Goregaon, King Circle, Hindmata, Dadar, Shivaji Chowk, Shell Colony, Kurla ST Depot, Bandra Talkies, Sion Road have been flooded.??
"Stay home! We've been monitoring the situation and the @mybmc is working round the clock. Please cooperate and stay home," Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray tweeted.?

The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune, Nashik and some other parts of Maharashtra for August 5. A red alert was issued for the second consecutive day.? ?
