Be it assembly elections or local body polls, every candidate in the poll fray gives their best shot to win over the people. They campaign vigorously and try to get one over their opponents.
In all this, a manifesto plays a crucial role in outlining the visions of a party and the candidate. However, some?candidates take extreme measures to pull ahead of their rivals, but in doing so, some of them come up with otherworldly promises in their manifestos.
A Sarpanch candidate, Jaikaran Lathwal, from Sirsadh village in Haryana, is making headlines for his election poster-cum-manifesto.? ?It showed Lathwal promising everything from "free makeup kits for women to the construction of three airports in the village" if elected as its sarpanch.?
In the first half of the poster, he claimed to be an educated, diligent, honest, and determined person. However, it's the poll promises in the second half that have caught everyone's attention.
In his poll promise, Lathwal has listed a number of outlandish welfare schemes, which include free makeup kits for women; the construction of three airports; reducing petrol prices to Rs 20/litre; and gas cylinders to Rs 100. He also pledged to abolish the Goods and Services Tax (GST).??
Wait, there's more. Lathwal also pledged a metro connection between Sirsadh and Delhi and helicopter flights from the village to Gohana every five minutes.?
Talk about making an impression, aye!? ?
The image of the poster was shared by Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Arun Bothra on Twitter on Sunday.??
"Am shifting to this village," Bothra captioned the post.? ?
Needless to say, the post has garnered plenty of reactions.
Last year, a?candidate in the Tamil Nadu?assembly elections went viral for his otherwordly poll promises.?
An independent candidate, Saravanan from South Madurai, had listed a number of bizarre welfare schemes in his poll promise, which included an iPhone, a car, a helicopter, a boat robot and much more.
As he campaigned determinedly, Saravanan released his manifesto, stating that if he won, he would deliver on his promises that would see every household provided with one iPhone, a car, a helicopter, a boat, a robot, and a three-storied house with a swimming pool. He had also claimed to give Rs 1 crore to youths and a 100-day vacation to the moon.
That is not all. Saravanan is a man of the future and has promised multiple infrastructure development projects that include a space research centre, a rocket launch site and, more prominently, an artificial iceberg that will be built to a height of 300ft in his South Madurai constituency to fight the summer heat.
