The pollution levels in India are getting worse everyday. Not just breathing problems for people, this problem has given rise to a whole lot of issues including that of low visibility.
In a recent incident, a pilot?manning a GoAir aircraft in Bengaluru had to resort to quick-thinking after trying to land the plane at the Bengaluru airport runway in low visibility.?
Upon touchdown, the plane began veering off the runway and onto a grass patch on the side of the runway. The pilot, at this point, increased the speed of the engine and was successful in taking off again. The plane then proceeded to Hyderabad when it landed safely.?
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has now ordered an enquiry into the matter. The A320 jet had taken off from Nagpur on Monday with 180 people on board and was scheduled to land in Bengaluru.
According to Bangalore Mirror, a DGCA source said, "Due to bad weather at the airport, the aircraft initiated a go-around. During the go-around, the left engine stalled."
Director General of Civil Aviation, Arun Kumar said that the crew has been grounded. "Aircraft has been grounded in Hyderabad for detailed investigation. Digital flight data recorder data along with other recorder data is being analysed for further investigation," Kumar told Bangalore Mirror.
Last month, a GoAir flight made an emergency landing at Patna Airport due to technical glitch. The flight was scheduled to fly to Patna but soon after it took off, the pilot informed the Patna Air Traffic Control, of the problem and he then instructed to make an emergency landing.?
Another incident took place where the Consumer Forum directed GoAir to refund a passenger the amount for 25 seats on a flight it cancelled 'without any reason'. Jayesh Pandya booked 25 tickets on a GoAir flight in 2015 for the guests from Ahmedabad to attend his daughter's wedding. Jayesh Pandya in May 2014 spent Rs 50,000 on the tickets to fly in his guests to Mumbai on February 17, 2015.?
¡°I had made the wedding pooja arrangements based on the flight timings. In January 2015, I contacted the airlines to submit the passengers¡¯ names. They then informed me that the flight was cancelled. They offered no reasons,¡± Pandya told the forum.
The airline claimed that it contacted Pandya through email about the cancellation, but they did not produce any proof in the court. The forum then directed GoAir to refund Pandya Rs 50,000 for the tickets and Rs 38,816 for the excess amount Pandya paid for Vistara airlines and Rs 10,000 as additional compensation.?
