Reports from local media indicate that the museum replaced the eaten banana with a new one in the same position on the wall.
In a video captured at the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul, South Korea, Noh Huyn-soo was recorded removing a banana affixed to a wall with duct tape, peeling it, and consuming it in front of other visitors. He then reattached the banana skin to the wall using the same tape and walked away with a satisfied expression.
The spokesperson added that no action was taken against the student as the incident happened suddenly.
The artist, Maurizio Cattelan, was also informed of the incident but did not have any reaction to it.
This was not the first time a visitor ate a banana used for Mr. Cattelan's artwork.
Mr. Datuna was seen eating the banana and later posted the incident on Instagram with the caption, "I love this installation. It's very delicious." After facing criticism, he called his actions a performance and said it was not vandalism.
