College brawls are nothing new. Youngbloods taking out their frustrations with fists and kicks is an age-told scene we have all encountered time and again at educational institutions. However, visuals of a brawl in Kanpur left the internet rather shaken this time.
Where Did The Altercation Take Place?
A heated altercation erupted between two kabaddi teams during an annual sports event held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur last Saturday.
The video of the intense fight has recently surfaced online, revealing how the event descended into utter chaos. The viral footage shows multiple individuals engaging in physical altercations and even throwing chairs, illustrating the extent of the turmoil.
Who All Were Involved In The Fight That Broke Out At IIT Kanpur?
Even though the chosen arena of the scuffle was the esteemed engineering institute, the students involved in the fight were not from IIT Kanpur. Although it is unclear why the brawl broke out in the first place, reports suggest that students from Delhi¡¯s Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) and J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology (YMCA) were involved.
What Happened In The Viral Clip?
In the clip, college students were seen occupying a matted area which was likely a site for an upcoming kabaddi match. The two teams got wrangled in a fight and started using fists to get their points across. Somehow the flying fists were not enough to relieve their frustrations, so the boys resorted to using plastic chairs to batter each other.
As chaos reigned on the site, many students were seen enjoying the fight from the sidelines while others escaped the scene to save themselves any potential bruises.?
What Was The Result Of The Fight?
As a result of the brawl, as expected both the teams involved were disqualified from the competition. IIT Kanpur released a statement after the fight went viral on social media. As per Careers 360, the institute said, ¡°It has come to our attention that an incident of altercation occurred between teams from two participating institutes during Udghosh ¡®23, the annual sports festival at IIT Kanpur. This is strictly against the ethos of the festival and an improper showcase of sportsmanship. A strict action has already been taken in this regard and the concerned teams have been banned from further participation.¡±
The statement continued, ¡°The concerned institutions have also been intimated and advised to take appropriate action at their end to avoid any such future incidents.¡±
