Recently, a woman admitted on Reddit that she wished to cancel her wedding and elope instead because of her 'toxic MIL.'?The internet responded the only way it knows how - from sympathy to not-so-savoury comments.?Here's what went on.
After disclosing that her future mother-in-law despises her and that she is about to elope with her fianc¨¦, the woman gained support from others online.?
Under the handle u/Dee_Ree, she posted on the "AmItheAsshole" page of Reddit, complaining that her mother-in-law has been spreading rumours about her and accusing her of being a careless mother.?
The social media platform assisted with the appropriate actions after the user requested advice on how to manage such circumstances.?
In a long post, the soon-to-be bride said, "My mother-in-law, or MIL, has never made an effort to get along with me. She makes sure I'm left out of discussions, minimizes my accomplishments, and talks down to me."
"Wedding day arrives and we were to be at the venue at 4 pm," the user stated, recounting an incident from her fiance's brother's wedding. "The fiance gets a call from MIL five minutes before the family photo shoot, which is scheduled at 2 pm."
"There'd been no announcement of a family photo shoot. MIL insists that we show up for it at 2:00 pm. We raced to get ready and made it to the wedding location. A photoshoot was never intended," the post went on.
"MIL tries to give me suit clothes to iron as she emerges in her pajamas. I declined. MIL becomes angry and asks me to find her son. He was not going to arrive. He is currently at the motel. MIL goes on to say that everyone anticipated his presence.?I replied that we would only RSVP if he didn't show up. She's been informed repeatedly that he won't be arriving."
She revealed that following the ceremony, people began to inquire about her son's whereabouts. "Even the names of these people elude me. He's at the hotel, I tell them. I get disgusted looks in return.?My conversations with my new friends ceased. I realized that although these folks were informed that my kid was staying at the motel, they were not informed of his age (teenager)."
The unidentified woman stated on Reddit that her mother-in-law had not disclosed to the guests that her son was a teenager.
"Now that MIL is involved, the fianc¨¦ wants to call off the wedding and elope. She posted, "Fianc¨¦ is requesting that I have one last conversation with MIL so that he can cut her off."
AITA for refusing to speak to MIL and cancelling our wedding?

The internet advised the woman to proceed with the wedding and simply remove the mother-in-law from the invitation list.??
