At a time when India's relations with the Maldives are reportedlystrained due to remarks made by the island nation's officials on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Lakshadweep, many chose to emphasise the beauty of local tourist destinations.?
In one such tweet, Mamaearth co-founder Ghazal Alagh shared a video stating that Indians should explore their nation more.
"If I told you I was in the Maldives right now, would you believe me? But I'm actually on a helicopter from Mumbai to Nashik. India is on par with the foreign countries we wish to visit. We just need to look into it more," Alagh commented on X, formerly Twitter.
People also reacted to her post. "No I'd not believe you were in Maldives when I can clearly see the red, volcanic soil of Maharashtra, home to all my known forefathers," a member of the public said.
"Amazing! I was a regular in the Maldives until the pandemic hit, but I've also visited the Andaman Islands. The Andaman Islands are stunning and offer an excellent option."?Another person commented that other sites, such as Lakshadweep, should be made more "tourist-friendly."
"The commercialisation is lacking. I traveled to Munnar in Kerala to go hiking (something I do all around the world). India was by far the most difficult to reach natural beauty. Permission and police guards everywhere," a user wrote, revealing his personal experience.
