They say if you really want to get to know someone from inside out, go on a trip with them! The true colours will come out in some situations or the other. If not, you will eventually realise if you like spending time with each other or if you are compatible with one another. That was not the plan for this US man, but what happened was probably good for both of them. Here's what we are talking about.
Dan Hentschel, of Los Angeles, California, revealed his breakup on X, detailing how he carried out the marriage proposal. "When I proposed, my idea was simple: a road trip across the country that eventually spelt out: WILL YOU MARRY ME?" Hentschel, a mental health content provider, wrote.
According to his post, the challenge was to keep the GPS art idea a secret until the completion of the trans-American journey. So, from his ex-girlfriend's perspective, they were simply embarking on a long road trip.
The pair began their adventure on the Pacific Coast and travelled extensively throughout the US Interstate Highways before arriving on the Atlantic Coast.
Hentschel admitted to using "trickery" on several occasions, such as pretending to have misplaced his wallet, to carry out the message's design. The final route visualization highlights green gaps in the trail, indicating GPS errors.
The Californian's ideal proposal had always been a road trip across the United States. However, his meticulous effort to drive from coast to coast proved futile.
"The vacation ended up serving an even more essential purpose. It demonstrated that we weren't a good fit for each other," Hentschel remarked.
While he did not divulge the actual reasons for the separation, people online had a lot of assumptions. Here's what people said.
