An Iranian man required medical intervention to remove a deodorant tube he had inserted into his rectum.?The 30-year-old individual sought medical assistance approximately two hours after the insertion, experiencing severe stomach pains.
The examination of the man's anus did not show any signs of trauma, bleeding, or cuts. Still, medical professionals could not locate any part of the canister, according to the Visual Journal of Emergency Medicine.
He was then taken to the operating theater at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences emergency department, where surgeons made an incision in his abdomen and successfully removed the canister on the same day.
The act of inserting objects into the rectum, known as anal play, is often associated with sexual pleasure due to the high number of nerves in the anus. It can stimulate the prostate for men, while for women, it can indirectly stimulate parts of the vagina.
However, the anal play carries various risks, including objects getting stuck and potential bowel perforation, which can lead to life-threatening infections if digestive tract material spills into other body parts.
The medical journal study noted that the most common foreign bodies found in rectums are sexual devices, followed by glass bottles, foods, vegetables (such as cucumbers), and wooden objects.
In a bizarre case, a man in the Czech Republic died after inserting a ping pong ball into his rectum and accidentally electrocuting himself during a self-pleasuring session.
Dr. Zubair Malik from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University recommends that a skilled surgeon or gastroenterologist should do the removal of rectal foreign bodies due to the high risks involved.'
