How often do you hear a story about a father and a daughter trying to slay the mountain the entire world is daunted by? Not too often, I guess. So here it is - a one-of-its-kind story where a father-daughter duo managed to scale the highest peak on the planet.?
Together, the Bajajs climbed Everest and made a country record for having done that the first time. On her trip, Deeya wrote a timely live blog where she mentioned each and every detail of her trip, her father and her Sherpa Sardar Nima Nuru, who has climbed Everest 20 times.
Once the hike was completed they made some yoga poses with their Tibetan guide Doma and from there Ajeet and Deeya made their way from Shigatse to Tingri, an elevation gain of about 2,000 feet. After two nights in Tingri for acclimatization, they made their way to basecamp.
Ajeet and Deeya trained hard for the expedition. They rigorously practised for a very long time, concentrating on their speed, fitness and health to be able to conquer this. As part of their training, they climbed many mountain peaks together to pump up their blood.?
In 2017, they travelled to and climbed Kang Yatse in Ladhak, in 2016 they climbed Chamonix, France and even went to the famous Gokyo Lake, Nepal in 2018.?
But this isn't the only prestigious feather in their hat. In April 2006, Ajeet became the first Indian to ski to the North Pole and in January 2007, he was the first to ski to both the North Pole and the South Pole. At the age of 17, his daughter Deeya became the youngest to have undertaken the Trans Greenland Skiing Expedition.?
