This could make a nice episode on?Lost, but that's not it. For some reason, the following image of a 'blacked out,' 'mysterious' 'hollow' island has thrown the internet off its game. As with all other debates, people are divided and no one knows what this is supposed to be for sure.
For anyone who's spent enough time on Google Maps, there are some corners of the earth that are blacked out. Maybe that's one reason why people think this island or atoll has been 'censored.'
Others can't seem to wrap their heads around the surrounding colours and gradients. "God dropped his guitar pick,' wrote one user on Reddit where the image was originally posted. "?"Looks censored for some reason," wrote another.?
One person did come close to making some sense of the situation. Redditor?goldenstar365?explained it as follows:
"Ok so the real answer is the blue color around the island is a painted-in color so the oceans look uniform in the maps.?Islands are added by erasing some of that blue to let the satellite image show through."
"Sometimes they do a sloppy job. So what you are seeing moving inward is: artificial ocean color, real ocean with waves, beach, island. As for the shape, idk man islands come in all shapes and sizes I don¡¯t discriminate," he added.
Of course, the funniest response was someone calling it the 'entrance to Hollow Earth.' Yep. Totally makes sense.
