NYC is hiring a leader to fight its biggest enemy〞rats.
This Monday, the New York City Mayor's Office issued a job opening for a 'citywide director of rodent reduction' or, as a spokeswoman for city hall termed it, a "rat czar."
The director will get a salary of $120,000 to $170,000 per year and will be responsible for formulating plans, supervising projects, and directing teams in the fight against the city's rat infestation.
It has been claimed that around 1.8 crore rats are living in New York City, and the city's administration is searching for someone to help get rid of the rodents.
The Daily Mail?said that advertisements in regional publications ask readers to help eradicate rats from the city.?
The Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, placed the advertisement and offered a sizable reward to anybody who could stop the rat infestation.
The job description further mentions that the successful applicant would get up to $170,000, or around Rs 1.13 crore and that they must possess the desire and killing instinct necessary to eradicate the rat population.
The ad reads, "Clever, voracious, and prolific, the rats of New York City are renowned for their survival skills, but they don't run this city 每 we do."?
In October, Mayor Adams held a news conference in which he declared that the battle against the growing rat population was on the same list as the fight against crime and inequality to make New York a better place to live.
Compared to the same period two years before, up to 70 percent of the rat-related complaints received during the first eight months of 2022 were addressed.?
New legislation prohibiting New Yorkers from bringing out their trash before 8 o'clock in the evening is one of the new laws adopted to fight the rat plague.
Right now, the trash may be deposited outside the homes after 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
