Adventure sports are one of the few things that are enjoyed during a holiday with friends and family. But adventure sports are sort of dangerous given that proper safety measures aren't taken. A family from?Saki Naka, Mumbai, learnt it the hard way during their Alibaug trip.
A video of the same was shared online. In the footage, two women were seen parasailing and enjoying their time when the rope holding them to the boat snapped. As a result, they plummeted into the sea from a height of 100 metres. Luckily, they were wearing life jackets that helped them stay afloat in the ocean. The women were soon rescued by the boatmen.??
The video was shared on a Facebook page named Adhar News Haryana. The caption read - Khatre ki ghanti kabhi bhi baj sakti hai.' This translates to 'Alarm bells may ring at any time.'
However, an incident like that is not only dangerous but can also be life-threatening. It can also traumatise a person if they don't know how to swim. Thankfully, this occurred in the ocean. However, if an incident like this occurs in the sea, it can definitely lead to a person's life at stake.?
Moreover, the video, which has been seen more than 3.7 million times, has raised questions about the legitimacy of the standard safety procedures followed by adventure sports operators across India.
This is not the first time an incident like this has occurred. Just last month, a?couple went through a death-escaping experience while parasailing in Diu.?Ajit Kathad and his wife, who wanted to experience parasailing in Diu, went through the worst nightmare when the parasailing rope tied to a boat separated from the source?and sent them hurtling towards the sea,?The Times of India?reported.?
Kathad and his wife, who were secured with lifejackets, didn't realise the rope tear immediately.? ?
An incident like this is absolutely life-threatening and companies need to invest in better equipment to stop such incidents from taking place.?While some accidents occur due to negligence, some happen due to the bad judgment of the participants.
