A sweet that is a favourite in many Indian households is Rasgullas. They are devoured at weddings, celebrations, and after dinners at home. Could anyone ever think that these sweets would one day be the reason why several trains were diverted and cancelled? No, right!?
Well, this is exactly what happened in Bihar this weekend.?
Several locals from Bihar's Lakhisarai area held a protest for around 40 hours demanding to stop ten trains at Barahiya Station. They put up tents on railway tracks in order to stop the movement of several trains.
Due to this incident, hundreds of trains on the Howrah-Delhi rail line had to be cancelled for around 24 hours. ?And more than 100 trains had to be diverted.??
The District Magistrate of Lakhisarai, Sanjay Kumar, reportedly said?that a lot of people sat on the tracks at the station, to press for their demand that a number of express trains had no stoppage in Barahiya. They demanded a need for scheduled halts for the convenience of local commuters.
Here comes the real culprit! Bahariya is a city known for its famous rasgullas. There are more than 200 rasgulla shops in the town and people from nearby cities and villages visit the area, especially for the delicious sweet.?
The non-stopping of?trains?had severely affected the sweets business, especially during the pandemic.
As per reports, the protest was finally called off after concerned officials assured the stoppage of an express train at the particular station within a fortnight. There was also an assurance that the trains would stop at the station for 60 minutes.?
