"I'm going to pick mushrooms. If I don't call you again by 10 am, it means I've been eaten by a bear," Alexander had told his wife.
Little did he know that it would turn into a brutal reality.?
Korneyev, while picking mushrooms, was savagely attacked by a bear and all he had for a self-defense weapon was a pen knife, reports Siberia Times.
Alexander was mauled and reportedly ¡®eaten alive¡¯ after his weapon failed to inflict any serious injuries on the brown bear.
"There was blood everywhere. His penknife was broken in half, and there were signs of a fight. His body was lying face down. There was no single untouched spot,¡± Sergey Ryabov, head of the village, was quoted by?Mirror UK.

When the rescuers found the bear, they shot it and found Korneyev remains in the animal¡¯s stomach.
According to reports, there has been an influx of bears close to towns and villages across Siberia and the Far East of Russia in recent weeks.
Just a few months ago, a Russian man was found alive about one month after being mauled by a?brown bear that broke his back?and dragged him to its den to keep him as food.?
Earlier this year, a man¡¯s corpse was found in Russia in the same state, an?Express?report states that the mummified remains with gouged eyes were found in oil-rich Tatarstan region. Investigators believe that he¡¯d been killed by a brown bear and his remains had been stashed for later consumption.?
